DownRiver Ice Cream
Bounded on two sides by the tidal Castleneck River as it winds through the Great Marsh, DownRiver Ice Cream is the kind of place you find once and keep coming back to. Pull up an Adirondack chair, settle in under the pergola, and slow down.
The ice cream is made in small batches, just 2.5 gallons at a time, using a rich 16% buttermilk fat base, local honey, organic Vermont maple syrup, dark Belgian chocolate, and pure vanilla extract. Seasonal and classic flavors rotate through the year.
This is ice cream as it ought to be: unhurried, unpretentious, and genuinely delicious and the setting, right on the edge of Cape Ann’s Great Marsh, is hard to beat.
Note: DownRiver is seasonal, check their website or social media for opening dates each spring.
